Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir has a strong figure as a vice presidential candidate from a professional background. There are several reasons explaining why Erick Thohir is favored as vice presidential candidate.

Political observer from Padjadjaran University (Unpad) Ari Ganjar Herdiansyah said Erick Thohir's background as a professional was not an obstacle, but instead an advantage.

Moreover, Erick Thohir's presence became a hot topic of conversation among Islamic-based political parties.

The United Development Party (PPP) and the National Mandate Party (PAN), which are members of the New Indonesia Coalition (KIB) with the Golkar Party, have a great chance of carrying Erick as running mate.

"Erick Thohir has an opportunity from KIB because he is a non-political figure, he is a professional one," said Ari Ganjar.

According to him, Erick Thohir's background, which comes from a professional background, is actually an advantage, because Erick Thohir is not bound by the interests of any political party.

Ari assessed that Erick was capable of becoming a balancing figure who could accommodate the interests of every political party in MNH. This is certainly a positive thing.

This makes Erick Thohir a potential vice presidential candidate for the upcoming presidential election.

In several political surveys, Erick Thohir's name emerged as a strong candidate for vice president for the 2024 presidential election. Actually, Erick Thohir's name was also included in the presidential candidate survey.

A number of names have been paired with Erick Thohir as potential candidates for the 2024 vice presidential candidate. They are Ganjar Pranowo-Erick Thohir, Prabowo Subianto Erick Thohir, and Anies Baswedan-Erick Thohir.
