Indonesia's Covid-19 pandemic predicted to be overcome by the end of February
Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin asked the public not to panic following the recent increase in Covid-19 cases in Indonesia. Budi Gunadi asks the public to reduce mobility when there is a spike in Covid-19 cases.
These two things must be done so that the pandemic can be overcome immediately. "Don't panic, stay alert," said the Minister of Health in an online press conference, Monday (7 February).
Budi believes that if this is done, the massive increase in Covid-19 cases can be suppressed immediately. He continues to emphasize to the public to be patient.
"God willing, by the end of February we will be able to overcome the pandemic," said the former Deputy Minister of SOEs.
Budi said that currently there are three provinces where the addition of cases has exceeded the highest peak when the Delta variant spread. Due to the omicron variant, he said there were now 15,800 additional Covid-19 cases in DKI Jakarta. In fact, at the peak of the Delta variant, the highest addition of cases reached 14,600.
Apart from DKI Jakarta, there are two other provinces that have experienced the same thing, namely Banten and Bali. The addition of Covid-19 cases in Banten reached 4,800 and the number increased compared to the peak of cases due to the delta variant which reached 3,900.
As for Bali, now the cases have reached 2,000. This figure is higher than during the delta, which was 1,900 cases.
However, Budi continued, despite the spike in cases, the number of people who tested positive for Covid-19 and had to be hospitalized was still around 30-50 percent. Budi again conveyed that there was no need to panic seeing the high number of cases.
